Meet Journey - Herding Haven’s Longest Resident, Still Waiting for Her Forever Home
Journey is a stunning red heeler with a story that truly lives up to her name. Before coming to Herding Haven, she spent months on the run, with sightings reported along a highway in southern Utah before animal control was finally able to bring her to safety. That resilience and spirit are still part of who she is today.
Heartbreakingly, Journey has now been in rescue for over five years and has lived in several foster homes—still waiting for a place to call her own.
Journey forms deep bonds with women and is incredibly loyal once she trusts you. She is reactive toward men, so she will need a patient, understanding home committed to continuing her progress and respecting her boundaries. In return, Journey offers unwavering devotion.
She loves to play ball, is crate trained and house-broken, and walks beautifully on a leash. Even more impressive—Journey has excellent recall, making her an amazing off-leash hiking companion for the right person. She does well with cats and can be selective with other dogs, so thoughtful introductions are important.
Journey is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. What she wants most isn’t complicated: a calm, loving home where she can finally settle in and be someone’s “forever.”
This holiday season, Journey has one wish—a family of her very own. After all she’s been through and all the time she’s waited, she deserves nothing less.
✨ Let’s make Journey’s Christmas wish come true. ✨
